Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including
MV cable jointing, glanding, and termination.
Fault Finding and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve electrical faults and issues
within MV systems.
Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant safety standards and regulations,
including Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various
electrical equipment and machinery.
Planning and Scheduling: Participate in planning and scheduling of work activities.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including legal
inspections and logbooks.
Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other team
members.
MV/LV Line Construction: Work on MV/LV line construction, including pole
replacements, re-stringing conductors, and repairing/replacing line hardware.
Earthing and Bonding: Ensure correct earthing and bonding practices.
Excavations: Perform excavations for pole holes and stays during line construction.
Qualifications and Skills:
MV Certificate for Cable Jointing, Glanding, and Termination: Certification in cable
jointing, glanding, and termination of 6.6KV/11KV cables (PILC & XLPE).
Trade Qualification: Qualified Electrician with a recognized trade qualification in the
electrical field.
Minimum 5 Years’ Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with
electrical systems.
Knowledge: Proficient knowledge of electrical principles, procedures, materials, and
safety standards.
Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team,
and good communication skills.
Certifications: Relevant electrical certifications or Government Certificate of
Competency.
Registered as Master electrician, or at least eligible to register as Master electrician.
Red seal qualification as electrician (Min 10 year
