Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrician to join our team on a 6-month contract, focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting inclusive practices within the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Installations: Design, install, and maintain electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
•
Maintenance and Repairs: Perform regular maintenance and repairs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.
•
Inspections and Testing: Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
•
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using testing devices and technical diagrams.
•
Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to local and national electrical codes and safety standards.
•
Inclusive Practices: Promote and implement inclusive practices within the workplace, respecting diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Educational Requirements:
•
High School Diploma or Equivalent: Basic educational requirement.
•
NQF Levels N1-N3: Completion of National Qualifications Framework levels N1, N2, and N3 in Electrical Engineering.
•
Vocational Training: Technical training in electrical technology from a recognized institution.
•
Apprenticeship: Completion of a 4-5 year apprenticeship program, combining on-the-job training with classroom learning.
Licensing and Certification:
•
Wireman's License: Obtain a wireman's license, proving the necessary skills for electrical work.
•
SANS 10142-1 National Exam: Pass the national exam to ensure compliance with South African standards.
•
Registration with DoL: Register with the Department of Labour (DoL) as a legal electrician.
Additional Requirements:
•
Cultural Competency Training: Understanding and respecting diverse cultures and backgrounds.
•
First Aid Certification: Certification in first aid and emergency response techniques specific to electrical accidents.
•
Valid Driver's License: Required for travel to various job sites.
